Whats the weather like, the jobs. How expensive is it to live out there. What type of work is Arizona know for (ex. Michigan known for makin cars) What are the wages like? I am thinking about moving to the west coast from the midwest. Arizona seems close to all the good states. Also how expensive is college out there for out of state students. I want to use my GI BILL.|||Flagstaff is a small college city w/too many people, cool w/pine trees. It doesn't snow like it used to. Living conditions are great if you have the money. Very expensive tourist town. Lots of gas stations and motels. Phoenix is hot desert, can be affordable. AZ has mining, electronics, military. Wages are bad in Flagstaff, better in Phoenix. Most don't want to live in Phoenix, rather in Tempe, Mesa, surrounding areas. Lots of people moving to Tucson, smaller than Phoenix. College is expensive, I know of more people dropping out, transferring to schools like University of Phx. Link below has lots of data. Good luck..|||I've been out here for 5 years, so hopefully I can help. The winters have been getting really cold the last 2 years (30's-40's) during the day. Still not as bad as most places though. The summers average about 110 degrees. It's not too bad unless there's humidity which happens a lot due to the Monsoons (just regular thunderstorms, and dust storms). When it does rain we usually get no more than 2 inches, but it tends to flood areas due to the way the roads are built. You may have to take a day off of work because of flooding, but at the same time, you don't have snow to deal with (unless you decide to live in Flagstaff). Flagstaff is much colder the whole year. I'm talking about the areas near Phoenix.
Arizona is not known for having their own of anything. So when it comes to jobs one major employer out here would be Intel. Wages are ok, it took me a while to make what I was making in Chicago, but after 5 years, I'm finally making more. I guess it just depends on what field you get into or what company you work for.
Phoenix area, which is where I would suggest to live over Flagstaff and Tucson, is about 6 hours from everything good, so it's not bad. 6 hours to the California beaches, 6 hours to Vegas, 6 hours to El Paso. For a cool off in the summers, you can go to Flagstaff which is only 2 hrs away.
Housing is relatively inexpensive compared to other states. With the market so bad right now, you can buy a pretty big house for a relatively cheap price. If you want to live in the suburbs, there are new areas all over. Examples are Gilbert and Queen Creek. I live in QC, it's far from a lot of places, but you can get a whole lot of house for a little amount of money. Look into foreclosed houses because that happened a lot out here. Queen Creek is finally getting a ton of stores, so on weekends and stuff you don't have to drive that far for anything.
ASU is the big university in Phoenix area (Tempe). I know they're somewhat expensive, and I'm really not sure how out of state residency student tuition. If you live here for a certain amount of time, you can claim residency and will save you thousands of dollars. Good luck to you and your decision.
I have the limited version with a 2.7L V6. What are some ways to improve the horsepower besides a new airfilter?|||you could check out cardomain. thats where i got idead on how to upgrade my jaguar and volvo. otherwise, nothing can top research. but in the meantime, a supercharger would be great http://www.alpine-developments.us/id15.html AND, make sure you join a forum, www.hyundai-forums.com|||get out and push it to the junkyard|||nos|||Boy wacha yall doing driving them North Korean commi cars?|||Jack it up and drive a real American truck under it!! ;-}|||Trade it in for a Sante Fe with the 3.3L V6 or Veracruz with 3.8L V6. If you don't like those ideas, then go ahead and void your warranty while lowering the value of your Tucson by adding a full cat-back exhaust with headers, cold-air intake, performance spark plugs/wires, unorthodox underdrive pulley, NOS/Venom, Turbo-charger.
Like someone said if you want a sportscar SUV you'll have to buy an American brand or one of those really expensive European brands that start around $50K.|||You cant it a hyundai..|||Well....to give you a REAL answer.....
Try getting some sparkplugs which have more than a single electrode (the little arm that extends out over the post). Go to Auto Parts store to check them out.
They help to burn the gas more completely. I have used them in my 1991 beatup Geo Prizm, and they've made a BIG difference in performance, as much as can be done on a beatup Geo prizm!!
Changing air filter alone won't do anything, unless you're talking about changing the whole air flow system into something more high performance. But if you're merely talking lowest dollar and effort, changing to higher performance spark plug like I mentioned will help.
Changing to a fully synthetic oil also helps the car run easier. More expensive oil, but you might try it once to see how car runs.
Also, increase the air pressure in your tires. If you've got them at the average 32 ppi, then increase to 34-35. Adds just enough air--without any dangers--to help the vehicle roll a little bit easier.
One more thing......get a cheap bottle of STP gas treatment, go to Walmart or Kmart and get their house brand, usually a dollar or less. Do NOT add the whole bottle of 8 oz per gas tank. Just add few ounces, maybe up to 4 oz per tank. The idea isn't to really clean the engine. (It's kinda bit of trouble to just add few ounces, because you don't want to splash the stuff when you pull out the bottle from the gas pipe/cap opening. I find it's easier to stick a screwdriver to hold the little flap open, while I easily pour the few ounces down the pipe.)
The added gas treatment will help your engine run smoother because it burns the gas more effectively. I've noticed it many times on my bike and my older car, too. It's kinda like adding a squirt of lighter fluid on the charcoal to get it to flame up, but without the fireworks which the open flame shows. But main idea is the same. The charcoal will burn normally. But a quick splash of the lighter fluid helps it to burn better, admittedly not for long. But the few ounces in the gas tank DOES help the gas to burn better.
Remember, not the whole bottle. You should get at least 2 or 3 tankfuls of gas to a single 8 oz bottle. It's just to raise the burning coefficient of the gasoline a little bit higher so that it gives a better burn, thereby producing little bit more power. But it won't give you better gas mileage.
These are a few very simple items that might help your car run better. Good luck.

I was about to make a left hand turn from a busy street on to my neighborhood. I saw that a car stopped behind me. As I slowly drove up to speed up a little more and make my turn, the car behind me passed me and made the turn, completely making the turn. When I honked, all she did was give me the finger. Visiting Tucson for a couple days and want to find a massage parlor that does happy endings. Where can I go????|||No where, I hope. I even sent a comment on the Applebees website to find out if they are going to bring the spread back and if I can get the recipe (doubtful, but worth a try). Then the tomato salad had minced garlic, basil, and balsamic vinegar. Then of course the toasted ciabatta bread.
I am going to try to make it soon and I can't wait. They have that Kraft parmesan out now that has parmesan, romano, and asiago, it's really good. I respect the President for making the effort to attend the memorial in Tucson. But "memorial" is hardly what the event was. I felt embarrassed by the obvious partisan attendance and their proclivity to cheer Obama in the shadow of the carnage that brought them there. The behavior seemed inappropriate and exhibited a vile disrespect for the dead and wounded.|||I'm trying very hard to find the good in it. But when I see people cheering him for such obviously hypocritical admonitions (just a couple weeks ago he called Repub's hostage takers as just the latest hyper-partisan remark to come from this guy), it does not ring true.
Giving speeches and telling people to watch what you say and to act like adults, etc. is fine if you also walk the walk. Obama does not and that will always cause me to doubt his sincerity and to wish him gone - now.|||President Obama asked John Boehner to fly to Tucson for the service on Air Force One. Boehner declined. There were 14,000 people there. I doubt they had to show their voter registration cards at the door. As for the cheering, the news that Gabrielle Giffords had opened her eyes for the first time brought an emotional out burst in the form of cheers. I have seen people laugh during a eulogy when the speaker said something funny. There is no book on how to show human emotions at a memorial service.|||I agree the tone was inapprorpriate but even I, who am not an Obama supporter, don't blame him or his staff. Ms. Giffords was among those on Ms. Palin's map."
The Huffington Post: "Above all, to judge by Jared Loughner's deluded ramblings about government brainwashing and a phony currency, extremists are becoming even more radicalized and violent. Given some of the wild rhetoric emanating from the Tea Party, the surprising thing probably isn't that a terrible event like this happened now. It's that it didn't occur even earlier."
Achenblog (at The Washington Post): "Giffords was one of the 20 Democrats who were elected in 2008 and voted for health care reform and were then targeted for defeat by Sarah Palin in a "takebackthe20" campaign that included a map showing each congressional district in cross-hairs -- as in a gunsight. Any ideas on where I can buy them???? Thx.|||Although you are worried about choking on rubber pellets, a child will put pieces of mulch in his mouth, too.
Problems with wood mulch - decay, breakage, insects, moisture retention (mushrooms and mold), slivers, and the bits cling to clothing and leave stains. They get tracked inside and make a mess at every doorway.
AND, mulch doesn't provide as much protection against falls as pea gravel.
Pea gravel is made up of small, smooth stones (like the size of a bean). 4 inches of pea gravel provides as much protection as 12 inches of mulch -- and you probably aren't putting in a foot of mulch. The smooth stones actually shift to absorb the impact of an object falling. They don't harbor insects, dry quickly after rain (if the bottom of the play area has decent drainage), don't cling to clothing, and are easier to sweep back into the play yard. AND the same batch will last for years, instead of having to be replaced each year like the decaying mulch.|||You can buy wood chips at any local hardware store as in Tru-Value, Home Depot or Lowe's. Also where they sell the wood sets that have slides, swings.etc would have them as an accessory or add on to the equipment.|||Lowes or Home Depot should have them. I would look at Rubber Mulch too. Not the Rubber Pellets, the stuff that is a lot more like wood chips.|||my only comment is why wood chips they will decay and also harbor a wide range of insects. I would suggest you try rubber pellets they will last for ever or as long as the play ground equipment does.

I have to get to work to earn money to pay fines......|||It's going to take a lot longer than Thursday to get a hardship license. It's a long process. Yes, it can be done but you better have a very good reason.
If the only problem is fines, you should be able to negotiate an installment plan and get your license back.
It is possible but very difficult. UCLA gives priority consideration to transfer applicants from CA community colleges. Transfer applicants from out-of-state colleges are only considered on a space available basis and therefore the admit rate is extremely low.
The situation is exacerbated by the fact that the Film and Television major (there is no cinematography major at UCLA) has an average admit rate of less than 3%.|||Yes, just make sure that all of your credits transfer (you need 60 semester/90 quarter units, no exceptions), and that you submit all of the required documents to UCLA admissions.

Depending on year model, they had a different final drive ratio due to excessive fuel usage.
If you are getting 450km per tank around town - this is normal. On freeways it, of course, should be better.
We have a close friend who gets 450 to 550km in city driving per tank and is very impressed.

They have a free flight bird demonstration ( ravens, owls and hawks) at 10:30 and 1:30 daily. It's pretty cool too. I also would recommend going up Mt Lemmon ( Catalina Highway) . And, if you deciede to go to the Desert Museum stop at Starr Pass along the way, also a scenic area|||I would hit the Flandrau Planetarium at the University of Arizona, if you like space and that sort of thing. Go Devils!|||Bah...forget Flandrau. It's nothing special as far as planetariums go and parking on the U of A campus can be a real pain. But the Desert Museum, yeah, that's probably our star attraction...along with simply taking the drive through the desert to get there.
If you're really into aviation, the Pima Air and Space Museum would be a fun time...including a bus tour of "the boneyard" (AMARC) where we have miles and miles of military aircraft stored. I doubt you'd experience anything like it anywhere else. Another one-of-a-kind attraction is the Titan Missile Museum where you can tour a decommisioned nuclear missile silo...a sobering insight on the Cold War. Tour only takes an hour but it's about 20 miles south of Tucson. On the way there you can take a quick detour to the San Xavier Mission...another unique site. Not sure if I'd define it as particularly fun though...but interesting and certainly is culturally relevant to the area.
If you like hiking, there's no shortage of that in the area. Feel free to contact me for some ideas on trails.

Depression, Tension & Increase of will-power.
Increasing the will-power : Our mind has a great effect on these glands. For example, continuous fear damages the Pituitary gland and makes one timid. Similarly, tension and worry disturb the Pineal gland and so leads to high B.P. and as Pineal gland controls other glands it also disturbs other glands and digestive system. In modern times, strees-tension or worry-fear have increased and they often disturb these endocrine glands. If these endocrine glands are not treated immediately, it might lead to malfunctioning of other glands of the body. As these glands are interrelated, whenever one gland is disturbed, the other glands also get disturbed. So, when you press on the points of these endocrine glands you will feel pain on points of more than one gland especially in case of chronic diseases. Therefore, it is very improtant to give Acupressure treatment on all the endocrine glands and keep them under proper control.
These glands also control the mind (the will-power). So in order to get rid of bad habits like smoking, drinking, drug addiction or even overeating, it is extremely necessary to give treatment on all endocrine glands for at least, fifteen days. Because, these people lack the necessary will-power to give up bad habits, they often break their vows to stop such bad habits and so they are considered unreliable. However, a treatment of fifteen days will give them necessary will-power to stop these bad habits after that. And they will be free from the withdrawal symptoms of stopping these bad habits.
Nervous tension : In the modern days because of fast life and loss of contentment, nervous tension keeps on building up increasingly, tending to damage our mind and health.
How to find out : Ask the patient to lie down on the back and ask some one to press on the base of the middle toe in both the legs. If there is a hurting sensation,it means nervous tension. If the hurting is unbearable, it means that the person is on the verge of collapse and needs immediate attention.
C U R E : (1) While the patient is lying on the back, bend all the toes of both legs, backward. It may hurt but give little more pressure and bend them as much as possible. Repeat this three times a day till the tension is removed.
(2) Clasp your hands tightly interlocking the fingers. Then with left hand fingers press on the back of the right hand and then with right hand fingers, press on the back of the left hand. repeat for about 1 to 2 minutes, 3 to 4 times a day.
(3) Insomnia : The above mentioned treatment can be taken for 5 to 12 minutes at night in bed to ensure good sleep and cure insomnia.
(4) Take 2 glasess of gold/silver/copper charged water reduced from 8 glasses of water daily.
(5) Kali Phos 1 m (a Biochemic medicine) : Take 8 pills in the eveining between 8 to 9 p.m. for 10 days, then once a week. After 10 days Kali Phos 12 x 4+4 pills every day. Complete course is of 45 days.

If so, how do you cope during monsoon season? After it rains, do you turn the pump off or leave it on? What do you do to keep the humidity down in your home?|||My parents have both a swamp cooler(SC) and air conditioning (AC). They leave the SC on a little too long for my liking and I hate going to their house so I know what you are talking about. I would suggest that you pick the room you want to be in most of the time during those months and get a window AC for it. You could get a separate dehumidifier but it might overwork it leaving you with the same problem. Did you know that Habitat for Humanity has opened a store and you might be able to pick up a window unit for a great price. http://www.hfhtucson.com/cms/page.aspx?p鈥?/a>
Is it as "simple" as removing all of the evap's hardware and then having an a/c unit installed? Can you use the existing ducting or must you update it too? With some general knowledge of home electricity and wiring is this something I may be able to do myself? Thanks for answering!|||First, check your existing ductwork. If it's insulated you can use it for A/C. You will have to install at least one return air vent and can use flex duct for that. Run it to where the new unit will be located. Now, I wouldn't try to do the actual install myself for a couple of reasons. First, a home size a/c unit will require 240 vac electricity and that may have to be run from your panel, or a sub panel may have to be installed. Second, no matter which a/c unit you purchase, it will have a warranty which the manufacturer could try to weasel out of if you self install it. Unless the unit is self contained it will require copper run from the compressor to the air handler and unless you're a pro you can't buy the coolant gas to charge the unit. Third, if there's a fire or other damage resulting from the wiring or install of the new unit your insurance company may not cover the damages if the work wasn't done or at least signed off on by a licensed professional.|||An evaporitive cooler or "swampy" as we call them cannot be turned into an a/c unit. Typically you can duct a package a/c unit into the swampy's duct system but since swampies don't have a return duct that would need to be run into the house. It is not really a job for the DIYer as duct, electrical and control wiring would need added.
Mapquest is saying it would take 13 hours. That seems kinda short to me. Is that right? I would be impressed if anyone knew the answer.|||921 miles is about as long as any single-day drive my family has ever done; our longest is somewhere between 800 and 850, also across Texas (around Deming, NM to Texarkana, AR); I remember it being just short of 900 miles.
Doing 70, math says just over 13 hours *if* you do it NON-STOP. add in 2-3 hours for food and restroom stops, and you're talking a good 15-16 hours, assuming no traffic anywhere along the way. This is not always a safe assumption. There could be construction to slow you down, there could be an accident ahead (one had us at a dead stop east of El Paso on I-10 for around 45 minutes on the previously-mentioned trip with my family). However, this route doesn't pass through any huge cities along the way, except El Paso, until you get to Fort Worth, so it might not be too bad traffic-wise.
Allow maybe 16 or 17 hours to be safe. It's long, but it's do-able if you have the stamina. An extra driver or two is strongly recommended; otherwise, factor in even more time for resting along the way.
Have a safe trip!|||Google Earth suggests 14 hours 23 minutes to drive the 921 miles.

I live in Phoenix, and have a garden every year. You can plant seeds right now, but don't expect them to come up right away. It will be another few weeks before the soil is warm enough. Pretty much any already growing plant (HD/Lowe's/Garden Center) should be fine. You just might have to cover them a night or two. Your safest bet is wait until the 1st of Feb. I know, I know, I've got the itch to start too.:-)|||it might just be since its not to cold and the sun is starting to stick its head out|||Hi, Lois. Ever heard the term called a killing frost? Even in the desert regions it gets cold at night. Plus unseasonably warm weather at this time of the year isn't usually permanent.
I made the same mistake & lost all my effort to two cold nights. Even in Ky (where I now live) planting season is May 10th yet we've had fluky weather as late as the 9th.
I'd say it's safe to get them started inside. But don't plant them outside until no more than a few days before & only then if the weather forecast is favorable.
Az. has hard soil from the sun & desert conditions so the ground stays cold longer. The soil underneath is what determines the success more than weather above. You could till the soil & fertilize where you're going to be planting so the ground will warm up quicker. But take it from one who's "been there, done that". It麓s very hot now but you can expect snow during winter on the nearby mountains. Be careful of some of the main roads, they have what they call a suicide lane that is used for passing during rush hour. It麓s a middle lane, so avoid it until you know the local usage of it as it can be dangerous. There is a large hippie-type population also, if you are into that type of thing. Most of the bars downtown are nice (very few fights break out) and are not too overpriced. Hope this helps.|||Hot.

Stay away from there if you can. Unless you like that sort of thing. The biggest adjustment I had to make when I moved from Phx to Tucson was the driving. People drive slower here. They stop for people in crosswalks. And if you're driving on Speedway, go the speed limit or you'll get a ticket. I could use some help on how to get a small mortgage on a low end property in Tucson or Phoenix Arizona area. Credit is fair. No recent problems Any help on real information. Please no sassy answers.|||A FHA mortgage loan would allow for some minor fix up of the property. Also offer the lowest down payment for a mortgage loan.
Buying a house is a step by step process, this is the first step you should take in order to purchase a house. The rest of the steps will fall in place, no matter the type of property you are purchasing.
In order to find out the type of loan programs you are qualified for you will have to fill out a loan application, with a mortgage broker, which you can find one in your local telephone book.
Make sure this mortgage broker or mortgage banker is able to do government loans such as FHA and VA loans if you qualify for one. With a VA mortgage loan you are not required to have a down payment, this will save you on closing cost.
He will fill out this application, which takes awhile so grab your favorite beverage and sit down. Once you have completed the application, he will run your credit report which will have your credit scores. These credit scores will determine your interest rate.
The amount of your monthly debt payments you are required to pay as per your credit report and the amount of mortgage you can take on based on your income will determine the amount of house you will be able to purchase.
When you speak with the mortgage broker you will need the following documents to complete the loan application, there will be others, but this will get you started.
#1 One month of pay stubs for each person that will be on the mortgage.
#2 Six months bank statements from each bank in which you bank as well as statements from any 401K from you place of employment.
#3 Two years of federal income tax along with the W-2 that match.
Once he has all that he need to do he can then issue you a pre-approval letter so you can purchase a home. In this pre-approval letter will be the amount of house you are qualified to purchased.
Once he gives you this pre-approval you may now find a real estate agent to find yourself a home or he might have a referral.
Now make sure before you get your pre-approval you and your mortgage broker go over all your options as to the mortgage programs you qualify for, the interest rate, monthly payments.
If you are getting a FHA, fixed rate, two loans to eliminate PMI like an 80/20 or one loan, if you are qualified for and approved for a 100% loan.
You should select the loan that best suit your financial condition at the time. That could be an adjustable rate loan. It could be a fixed rate loan for 5 or 10 years and then adjust. Some adjustable rate mortgages only adjust once.
Make sure your mortgage broker explain all your options so you may make an intelligent decision.
What might be good for one person might not be good for you, in other words just because your friends and all your real estate buddies are telling you about the great fixed rate they got, your financial situation might call for something else.
So select the best option for you and your financial situation.
You should also get a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) which will indicate the cost you will have to pay for getting this loan. It will also indicate the amount of your down payment.
Once you have found a home the real estate agent will then prepare a contract for you and the seller to sign.
Your mortgage broker will now order an appraisal to show proof of the property value.
The mortgage broker might ask for additional information or documentation, don't get all up tight this is normal, just supply the information or find the documents needed.
After the appraisal has been completed you will be called by your mortgage broker to sign your loan docs so you can take possession of your new home.
Before signing any loan docs make sure they say exactly what you and your mortgage broker went over when you decided on what mortgage program was best for you.
I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck

After the Tucson shooting, Obama's chances of being re-elected to a 2nd term just increased ten fold. Especially since the leftwing media who is in the tank for Obama will likely paint the Republican Party in the 2012 presidential elections as the party of violent crazy gunman.
Even if the unemployment rate is still high in November of 2012, the leftwing media still has the Tucson shooting as a weapon against the Republicans.|||Americans have notoriously short memories when it comes to presidents which is why both Clinton and Obama seemingly successfully "moved to the center" and were perceived as far less liberal than their policies would indicate. In Clinton's case, he adopted welfare reform - after strenuously opposing it - which solidified his image as a "moderate." Obama has the Tucson speech and a slew of initiatives, including regulatory reform, that he is trying to show his move to the center.
Will it last? Abraham Lincoln's admonishment about "fooling all the people all the time" is instructive here. Sooner or later, people will wake up to the fact that the economy is not really getting much better, and that the reason can be laid at Obama's feet.
Expect those approval ratings to dip back below 50% once the glow from Obama's Tucson speech wears off. o_O|||I truly hope not. I need to know so I can do a project for chemistry class.|||The regular soil around there might be clayey. you can ask the Tucson Botanical Garden or any local nursery or local garden forums. Clay soil is so common, that it is not something that you find for sale. It is everywhere. you can find it where you find puddles<<on the dried puddle, it is the smoothest dirt. it is not sand but more like powder. if it is wet, then it is mud and still smooth but sticky too.
sources of Tucson garden help:
http://www.tucsonnewcomer.com/features/g鈥?/a>
Clay has little pieces that fit close together. those surfaces make nice smooth pottery. and solid bricks. People dig up clay soil and then use it to make bricks and pottery and also people sell clay for those purposes.
here is a craft supply shop:
Michaels-Arts & Crafts
(520) 293-0430
4070 N Oracle Rd
Tucson, AZ 85705-2720
and you can research "pottery supplies" if you want because there will be a lot in your area. telephone books and the internet are good.
here is a site with recipes to make your own "clay":
http://familycrafts.about.com/od/clayrec鈥?/a>
In terms of texture, clay soil is made of particles smaller than sand, less than 0.002mm in size. "Clayey" soil must have at least 30% clay particles. Clay particles are the dust of a thousand ingredients and so they have many nutrients.
Since it is composed of the smallest and lightest particles, it will take the longest to settle out of solution<<<the heavier particles will settle to the bottom of a glass of water much more quickly than clay particles will settle.
Clay soil is usually acidic but alkaline soils can be very clay like as well. Desert clays are often alkaline>>>maybe Tucson's desert is like that. Alkaline clays are used for cement>>like lime. lime is powerful in many ways. and it is also sold as fertilizer and soil amendment for areas that are acidic.
clay soil can have a neutral pH too but usually a whole region will have the same type of soil..we do not find acidic soil here on this one street corner lot and then alkaline soil on the next street.
and it can be black or brown or red or orange or yellow or white
pH can be related to colors, for instance alkaline soil like lime is usually white or sometimes yellow. Acidic colors are red and orange<<they have lots of oxidized iron.
and clay is needed to make up the best of garden soils/loams.
You can buy special pure clays from all over the world. You can buy them by the ounce and such because women use it for face treatments. i have seen it from $4.50 to $13 per oz (USD).
for clay soil in your area you only need to look around and dig around and examine the texture of the soil. There will probably be a few layers and a few colors. When you see how many layers and what colors then take notes. Then you will be able to find out all that you need. The soils will be documented on the web and at university sites. they will be documented according to color and depth of layer and number of layers and thickness of layers. and if you bring samples to various local authorities, those people will give you opinions that you can weigh for truth and then include in your studies.
sometimes the local agricultural extension office would do free tests but it is rare these days, you can check with your area's extension
so there you go, dig around for smooth powdery dirt <<not sand, but powder
or sticky gooey puddles if it's raining down there <<not regular sand that would fall apart in a sand snowball but sticky smooth make some pottery type clay
the pH is easy to find out, btw, you can use paper test strips from science class or get some at the local nursery/plant supply place (they can cost almost $10 USD sometimes). or you can make your own strips with a red cabbage. search "homemade pH test red cabbage"

At the end of her life she had to be put in a nursing home. When I would visit my family we would go get her and take her to lunch. Tucson as seen from spaceTucson is located at 32掳12鈥?2鈥砃, 110掳55鈥?鈥砏 (32.214476, -110.918192)GR1.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 505.3 km虏 (195.1 mi虏). 504.2 km虏 (194.7 mi虏) of it is land and 1.1 km虏 (0.4 mi虏) of it (0.22%) is water.
The city's elevation is 2,389 ft (728 m) above sea level. Tucson is situated on an alluvial plain, surrounded by five minor ranges of mountains: the Santa Catalina Mountains and the Tortolita Mountains to the north, the Santa Rita Mountains to the south, the Rincon Mountains to the east, and the Tucson Mountains to the west. The Santa Catalina Mountains feature 9,157-foot-high Mount Lemmon, the southernmost ski destination in the continental U.S., while the Tucson Mountains include 4,687-foot Wasson Peak.
The view of Tucson from Windy Point, at elevation 6,580 feet on Mt. Lemmon. The city is located on the Santa Cruz River, a dry river bed much of the year that floods during significant seasonal rains. (The Santa Cruz becomes a subterranean stream part of the year although it may appear dry.)
Tucson is located along I-10, which runs through Phoenix toward Santa Monica, California in the northwest, and through El Paso, Texas toward Jacksonville, Florida in the east. I-19, runs south from Tucson toward Nogales and the U.S.-Mexico border.
[edit] Environmental impact
In 2006 the City of Tucson was ranked overall number 20 of 50 U.S. cities by the organization SustainLane on quality of life and economic factors that affect personal sustainability. The complete study is available online at www.sustainlane.com [1].
Tucson can point with pride to numerous public/private projects which have made the Tucson metro area a national leader in conservation/sustainable living evolution.
While Tucson is a "natural" for development into a solar community, there is a long way to go. Perhaps the biggest sustainability problem is potable water supply: although agriculture in Arizona uses far more water than the city itself, and Tucsonans find lawns and swimming pools less acceptable than their neighbours in Phoenix, massive drawing down of groundwater resources over the last 100 years has occurred, visible as subsidence in some residential areas.
Tucson's new reliance on the CAP canal, passing more than 300 miles across the desert from the Colorado River, cast doubt over "sustainability" claims even at current population levels. This points to the need for further efforts at re-use and recycling, prompted by Pima Country and the city in numerous outreach campaigns, and halt to urban growth into the fragile ecosysems of the surrounding Sonoran Desert.
[edit] Water
While the Santa Cruz river once flowed nearly year-round through Tucson less than 100 years ago, the city's water has been slowly disappearing since then, causing Tucson to seek alternative sources.
Until 1887, Tucson residents purchased water for a penny a gallon from vendors who transported it in bags draped over burros' backs. After that, water was sold by the bucket or barrel and delivered door-to-door in wagons.
In 1881 water was pumped from a well on the banks of the Santa Cruz River and flowed by gravity through pipes into the distribution system.
Tucson currently draws water from three main sources: Central Arizona Project (CAP) water, effluent (treated wastewater), and groundwater. In 1992, Tucson Water delivered CAP water to some customers that was referred to as being unacceptable. This problem led Tucson to modify its water resources plan to allow more study of the best use of CAP water. While currently dependent on groundwater, Tucson is making use of CAP water by selling it to local farmers, and is developing several recharge projects to augment groundwater supply.[2]
[edit] Cityscape
Similar to many cities in the Western U.S., Tucson was developed on a grid plan, with the city center at Stone Avenue and Broadway Boulevard. While this intersection was initially near the geographic center of Tucson, due to urban development the intersection is presently located in the west-central part of town. As an expansive city covering substantial area, Tucson features many distinct neighborhoods.
[edit] Earliest neighborhoods
Tucson's early neighborhoods (some of which are covered by the Tucson Convention Center) include Barrio Libre; Barrio Anita, named for an early settler; Barrio Tibur贸n (in the present Fourth Avenue arts district), designated in territorial times as a "(red light) district"; El Jard铆n, named for an early recreational site, Levin's Gardens; and El Ollo, named for a lake that was part of the gardens. Up until the building of the Tucson Convention Center (or TCC), El Ollo referred to this part of the city, which was inhabited mainly by Mexican-American citizens and immigrants from Mexico. Other historical neighborhoods include Armory Park, south of downtown, the Sam Hughes neighborhood (named after an instigator-hero of the Camp Grant Massacre), located east of the University of Arizona, and Menlo Park, situated adjacent to Sentinel Peak.
[edit] Downtown
Downtown Tucson is undergoing a revitalization effort by city planners and the business community. The primary project is Rio Nuevo, a large retail and community center. Downtown is generally classified as north of 12th Street, east of I-10, and southwest of Toole Avenue and the Southern Pacific Railroad. Downtown is divided into the Presidio District, Convention District, and the Congress Street Arts & Entertainment District.
UniSource Energy Tower (center) as seen from midtown looking westTucson's tallest building, the 23-story UniSource Energy Tower (also called the Bank Building) is situated downtown and was completed in 1986. The proposed Century Tower for downtown would surpass the Bank Building at 27 stories. Other high-rise buildings downtown include Bank of America Plaza, and the Pioneer (completed in 1914).
Attractions downtown include the historic Hotel Congress designed in 1919, the Art Deco Fox Tucson Theatre designed in 1929, the Rialto Theatre opened in 1920, and St. Augustine Cathedral completed in 1896. Included on the National Register of Historic Places is the old Pima County Courthouse, completed in 1927 [3].
[edit] Central or Midtown
As one of the oldest parts of town, Central Tucson is anchored by the intersection of Campbell Avenue and Grant Road. The University of Arizona, chartered in 1885, is located in midtown and includes Arizona Stadium and McKale Center. Historic Tucson High School (designed in 1924), and the Arizona Inn (built in 1930) are also located in Central Tucson.
Tucson's largest park, Reid Park is located in midtown and includes a zoo and Hi Corbett Field. Local retail in Central Tucson is concentrated along Fourth Avenue and also Main Gate Square on University Boulevard near the UA campus. The El Con Mall is also located in midtown.
[edit] South Side
South Tucson is administered largely by the city that shares its name. The South Side of Tucson is generally defined as the area north of Los Reales Road, east of I-19 and southwest of Aviation Parkway. While the South Side has lower real estate values than most other Tucson neighborhoods, it supports a vibrant culture influenced by Mexico. The Tucson International Airport and Tucson Electric Park are also located on the South Side.
[edit] West Side
West Tucson is a combination of urban and suburban development. Generally defined as the area west of I-10, West Tucson encompasses the banks of the Santa Cruz River and the foothills of the Tucson Mountains. Attractions in West Tucson include Saguaro National Park West, Sentinel Peak, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, Old Tucson Studios, and the Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa.
[edit] North Side
North Tucson includes the urban neighborhoods of Amphitheater and Flowing Wells. Usually considered the area north of Fort Lowell Road, North Tucson includes some of Tucson's primary commercial zones (Tucson Mall and the Oracle Road Corridor). Many of the city's most upscale boutiques, restaurants, and art galleries are also located on the North Side including St. Philip's Plaza. The Plaza is directly adjacent to the historic St. Philip's in the Hills Episcopal Church (built in 1936).
Also on the North Side is the suburban community of Catalina Foothills, located in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains just north of the city limits. This community includes among the area's most expensive homes, commonly multi-million dollar estates. The Foothills area is generally defined as north of River Road, east of First Avenue, and west of Sabino Creek. Some of the Tucson area's major resorts are located in the Catalina Foothills, including the Westin La Paloma Resort, Loews Ventana Canyon Resort and Canyon Ranch Spa. La Encantada, an upscale outdoor shopping mall is also in the Foothills.
[edit] East Side
East Tucson is relatively new compared to other parts of the city, developed between the 1950s and the 1970s. East Tucson is generally classified as the area of the city east of Swan Road, with above average real estate values relative to the rest of the city. The area includes urban and suburban development near the Rincon Mountains. East Tucson includes Saguaro National Park East. Tucson's Restaurant Row is also located on the East Side, along with a significant corporate and financial presence. Tucson's largest office building is 5151 East Broadway in East Tucson, completed in 1975. Park Place is also located on the East Side.
Situated between the Santa Catalina Mountains and the Rincon Mountains near Redington Pass northeast of the city limits is the community of Tanque Verde. The Arizona National Golf Club, Forty-Niners Country Club, and the historic Tanque Verde Guest Ranch are also in Northeast Tucson.
[edit] Southeast Side
Southeast Tucson continues to experience rapid residential development. The area includes the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. The area is classified as south of Golf Links Road. The suburban community of Vail is also located on the Southeast Side.
[edit] Northwest Side
Much of the Northwest Side is single-family residential areas, as seen from the northeastern foothills of the Tucson Mountains. The expansive area northwest of the city limits is known as the Northwest Side. The Northwest Side includes significant economic diversity ranging from the rural communities of Catalina and parts of the town of Marana, to the affluent town of Oro Valley in the western foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains, and residential areas in the northeastern foothills of the Tucson Mountains. The community of Casas Adobes is also on the Northwest Side, with the distinction of being Tucson's first suburb, established in the late 1940s. Casas Adobes is centered around the historic Casas Adobes Plaza (built in 1948). The Foothills Mall is also located on the Northwest Side.
Many of the Tucson area's golf courses and resorts are located in this area, including the Hilton El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort in Oro Valley, the Omni Tucson National Resort & Spa, and Westward Look Resort. Catalina State Park and Tortolita Mountain Park are also on the Northwest Side.

If we look back in five or ten years, how many will be bankrupted or homeless from the expenses?
Just wondering why Americans don't have health insurance as good as Belgium? Holland? New Zealand?|||At least she VOTED for the Health Care bill. It got her office vandalized in March.|||Probably none of them will be bankrupt or homeless.
There are just a few more people in the United States than in the countries listed. Add to that about 14 million illegal aliens that are taken care of at US taxpayer's expense and you begin to see why it's nearly impossible to insure everyone. Plus, there is a system in place for low income people and families (Medicaid) that pays for everything - again, at taxpayer's expense. Another system is there for the elderly, disabled and those with end stage kidney disease (Medicare). If people don't have health insurance, most hospitals and doctors will be happy to set up payment plans, and if $25 a month is all a person can afford, that's what they pay. And hospitals write off quite a lot of fees for care provided. (Ever see any articles about some person being treated in the US - and the hospital and surgeons have all waived their fees? Well, "someone" is paying for all that "free" care down the road, trust me. People with insurance get it passed on to them in the way of higher premiums and deductibles.)
I live in New Zealand and health care is not totally "free" - it's paid for by taxes, and we have a GST of 15% - and that is on everything, including food. I also pay a fee when I see my GP. Medications are limited here, too - I had to change one medication when I got here as the one I had been on in the states is not available here. There have been articles in the paper recently about how people are flocking to emergency rooms with minor illnesses and accidents because it costs "too much" to see a GP - especially after hours and on holidays. And, of course, the GPs who are only out for the money, are to blame. (Yeah, right! Would you work for free? Stay up nearly 24 hours treating people who want instant cures for colds? Or treating people who are throwing up because they spent the day before drinking themselves to oblivion? Or who have a baby with a little vomiting and diarrhea? I doubt it - but that's what our GPs do! They SHOULD be paid!)
I worked in a system that had several large hospitals and I can tell you that the hospitals also got tax money for "indigent care" - in other words, people who couldn't pay.
I am holding a meeting for 8 people and I wanted to have it in a restaurant. We tend to keep our current apartment fairly cool, but plan on changing that in the new place, probably 75-80 at all times with the fans running.

A friend from Charleston wants some southern cooking for an ucoming birthday. Take out is fine. It doesn't have to be a 5 star place. It's the food that matters. Hamhocks and lima beans, grits, etc Any ideas? Thanks.|||Well I would check out some sites online. But you can't beat the classic Southern Dinner of Fried chicken, Cream Gravy, Mashed Garlic roasted Taters, and BBQ'd Corn on the Cob and some good southern biscuits.
Heres some recipes for that dinner:
Southern Fried Chicken With Gravy
INGREDIENTS:
oil or shortening
1 chicken, about 2 to 2 1/2 pounds, cut up
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
.
Cream Gravy
2 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons flour
salt and pepper, to taste
1 cup milk
1 cup water
PREPARATION:
Have a deep heavy skillet or Dutch oven with oil or hot fat about two inches deep.
Combine flour, salt and pepper; sift into a pie plate or wide bowl. Roll each piece of chicken in flour and place in the hot fat (about 370掳 F).
Put the largest pieces in firs, in the hottest part of the skillet. When all pieces are in the skillet and heat is regulated, cover and cook for 5 minutes. Remove top and turn chicken pieces when the underside is well browned. Replace top for another 5 minutes, remove and cook in open pan until the bottom side is browned. About 30 to 35 minutes in all will be required for cooking chicken if it is not too large. Try to turn the chicken only the one time.
The fat should be deep enough to cover the pieces when it boils up, but make sure you use a deep skillet, preferably one made for frying chicken, and watch carefully.
To make cream gravy:
Pour off all but about 2 tablespoons of the fat from the skillet. Add 2 tablespoons butter and 4 tablespoons flour; blend and cook until golden brown, scraping browned bits from bottom of skillet. Gradually stir in 1 cup milk and 1 cup hot water. Stir until smooth and thickened; add salt and black pepper. Pour into a gravy boat and serve with hot biscuits, potatoes, or rice.
Southern-Style Buttermilk Biscuits
2 cups all-purpose flour, stirred before measuring*
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup lard or vegetable shortening, chilled
2 tablespoons butter, chilled
3/4 cup buttermilk
PREPARATION:
Heat oven to 450掳. Adjust oven rack to center position.
In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, soda, and salt. Cut in chilled shortening and butter until you have pieces the size of small peas.
Make a well in center of dry ingredients; pour in buttermilk. With a wooden spoon, gently blend dry ingredients into the buttermilk, just until mixture is clumping together. If necessary, add a few more teaspoons of buttermilk.
Transfer dough to a lightly floured board. Pat out in a circle about 8 inches in diameter and 1/2-inch thick. Using a 2 1/2 to 3-inch biscuit cutter, cut out and place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake on center oven rack for about 10 to 12 minutes, until tops are browned.
Makes 10 to 12 biscuits, depending on size of cutter.
*For the lightest biscuits, use a Southern white all-purpose flour if available

So to be sure that you remove all the threats on your computer check out F5Geeks.com and just have a technician come to you.
Their Price is $45 for the first hour, then $10 after that for every 15 mintues. So compare the price to geeks squad which would run you $200+ to do the same work your getting for $45 to $90, depending on what the problem is.
Hopefully this sames you some time, and I highly recommend this company. I'm not affiliated with the company, just like their service and price.|||If a virus is your only problem, don't pay for someone to take care of it for you.

Just live your own lives rather than the over-the=top voyeuristic and vicarious living.|||On 9/11, America was united because it was an attack against America on American soil. We were brought together because the sadness and tragedy.
We're brought close together because of the Tucson tragedy because, though only few people died, each person had a story which was told. This gave a feeling of connection between people. It's much easier to connect with a few people than with thousands.
All together, I believe we were more struck by the 9/11 attacks thought the Tuscon tragedy is still sad.|||though the tucson incident had been a tragedy, i don't think America/the media has reacted as much. i mean Americans are outraged and it's a big story right now. and it's on the wordly news everynight since it happened. it is a big tragedy and a lot of people are mourning it. but 911 was HUGE. it had to be the biggest terrorist attack on American soil. you gotta realize that in The tuscon tragedy, a few innocent people were killed. and it's a big deal. it has affected the nation. but in 911, thousands of people were killed and it affected us alot. even though 911 lasted for a day, it's been going on for years and because of it, war started. and even to this day it's still discussed.|||I don't think you can compare the two events.
I am totally shocked that the Suns games are not shown in Tucson. I mean it is still in the same state and it only like 80 miles away from the stadium. I do not want to pay for a special service to the Suns but there has to be a way to see them in Arizona if you do not live within Phoenix. Phoenix tried to stay small time for a while, but everyone just moved right in anyways. Now Tucson is growing as well. Will be a more sophisticated town like Phoenix is these days?Hopefully that means the economy will improve there as well|||"a more sophisticated town like Phoenix"??
Phoenix sucks. It's just a very hot L.A., without the famous people...well except for the golfers. Oh, golf courses suck too. Whatever idiot decided they would love to see well manicured lawns in the middle of a desert should be drug into the dust between Yuma and Lake Havasu and left for dead. Oh, and everyone that b!tches about the heat can just move away. We will gladly keep our desert with the 100+ temps between May and September, and you can just go to you know where with your houses four feet apart from one another.
I hope to God that Tucson sees Phoenix's mistakes, and stops the sideways expansion.
Nothing against you personally, have a nice day.|||Not as long as we don't have a god-awful freeway running through the middle of the city, promoting urban sprawl. Unrepentant Marxist Amy Goodman gave Eric Fuller a platform to rant, the day before he told a Tea Party leader, “you are dead.”
Why isn't the media hounding "Democracy Now!" the same way they immediately pointed without justification toward "right-wing" radio hosts following the Tucson shooting?
Why are representatives of the radical left allowed to entertain mentally unstable people like Eric "You're dead" Fuller without the scrutiny that is reserved for everyone else?
Had it been Alex Jones who had Fuller on his show, there would be a media lynch mob knocking down his door.|||The media is Liberal. You're just figuring that out. Watch any NBC program and count the number of times they blame Right wing rhetoric for violence and compare that to all the Left wing violence in this country (shooting up George Bush's campaign office, burning down a Hummer dealership, etc). Good luck. They mention nothing. They did not even mention the death threats from Democratic Lawmaker in Fla because he retracted it. Free pass for Liberals. No wonder people are tuning into FOX. They made their own bed when underestimating the intelligence of viewers.
When Liberals throw rocks and destroy property at the G20 Summit, it's justice.|||You had a decent question until yo got to the point '....immediately pointed without justification toward "right-wing" radio hosts following the Tucson shooting?'
There is a long list of inflammatory, gun references, and violent ladden inuendo and imagery coming from those sources. To say otherwise is to be completely blind. Fuller was wrong to make the comments he did. But that is one person.|||Liberals did draw cross hairs on people. Actually, the "Daily Kos" (I call that site the "Daily Kommie"), a far-left web site of Democrat partisans, said that the Congresswoman who got shot was "dead to them" just a day or 2 before she was shot. After the fact, they whitewashed history.|||I'd like to say that yours is a nice twist but it's not. Nobody on the left drew cross hairs on people, or gave a call to lock and load. Liberal media doesn't rattle America's village idiots cages.|||It's no big shock that today's media are liberals with a liberal agenda and, therefore, follow a double standard.|||The Media has always had a double standard so nothing is new following Tuscon. It's just more blatant so more noticeable.

I am apartment hunting because I am planning to move their in a couple of weeks. What areas are the best place to live?|||Will you be working or going to school? How about being close to those places. Will you be riding a bike? Check out the Tucson Bike Map to be close to a route. I know this might sound like a crazy thing to consider, but, you do not want to be driving East to school or work in the morning, or west in the evening. The sun is just too intense. (That's considering that you work a day job.) The supermarket answer you previously received might be good advise. Tucson traffic may npt be as bad as some larger cities, but it is definitely time consuming. They don't have express routes across town. Try to find an area where you can be close to where you'll need to go. You'll save fuel and time for convenience sake.|||North East side. It is very lush compared to other parts, safer than other parts and it's the part of town that still has character. I'm moving to Tucson in the fall and I was wondering what the average apartment is there. Specifically square footage and price for studio, 1BR, and 2BR.|||There is no such thing as an "average" for square footage. In the city where I work, a studio can be anywhere from 395-600SF. A 1 bedroom could be anywhere from 475-900SF and a 2 bedroom could be anywhere from 750-1600SF. So there is no such thing as an average. Every developer and builder has their own desires for square footage based on their expectations for sale or rental value in certain areas and parts of town. It's not uncommon to see that downtown will have smaller square footage (in newer buildings) and suburbs or non-downtown will have larger square footage. It's all about demand and cost benefit analysis.|||Like the first answer said, there's not really an average. However, most, and i mean 85%+ of apartments in Tucson are trashy, have drug problems, or there is a different squad car there every other night for who knows why!!! So if you are looking for an apartment, don't be fooled by what they look like online. There are some great apartments in the foothills and on the east side. Although they can be quite pricey, there are some affordable ones, you just have to look for them!! Just look for apartments north of river road, and it will most likely be higher quality than most Tucson apartments. I know someone who lives at the Colonia del Sol apartments, which are roughly at River road and Campbell. These apartments are nice, affordable, in a nice part of town, and you still have the amenities of the foothills, but you still have a short dive to anywhere in Tucson!!!! Enjoy Tucson!!!!

This guy is a democrat. He just blamed the Republican party for recent heated debate(funny how nothing mentioned about the liberals behavior during the Bush admin). I think he honestly believes the Tea Party caused this(in which there is not 1 piece of evidence that shows this guy is political - it looks like he is a lone wack-job). Doesn't this seem wrong? Are we giving this wacko too much credit?|||a liberal Arizona sheriff ha good one. I did not hear him say anything about republicans, just inflammatory rhetoric, whats the matter starting to realize that words have consequences? your type should feel guilty.|||Is it tasteful? No. It was speculation at a point when no facts were available. And the facts turned out to be a mentally disturbed person acted alone and it had nothing to do with anything any party did. The last time we drove up to Vegas from Tucson, we used map-quest directions. It took us through about 10 miles of stop lights, all of the RED. Is there a quicker way around the city? Thanks!|||I'm guessing all those lights were on Grand Avenue (US 60). Another alternative to avoid Grand Ave (US 60) through town is to take I-17 north to Carefree Highway (SR 74) and head west. It's more miles. But, as long as you hit I-17 before rush hour traffic (3PM to 7PM earlier on Friday) it should be pretty smooth sailing.
From the juncture of I-10 and I-17 Carefree highway is about 24 miles north. Carefree highway (SR74) isn't divided but still easier driving in my opinion than Grand Ave. You'll pick up US 60 (about 34 miles) just outside of Wickenburg at Morristown I believe . At that point just follow the Map Quest directions.
I've made this journey from north Phoenix this way a dozen or so times. Hope this helps.|||Not really. The only suggestion that I have is to Take route 10 to route 8 and head west to Gila Bend. At Gila Head north on US 95 until you pick up route 10 west of Phoenix. Continue on 10 until Blythe, then head north to Needles, and continue on to Las Vegas. It's 494 miles vs. 418 miles going through Phoenix. I would do that only if you think you might get stuck around Phoenix in traffic or if you prefer scenic routes. I for one would take the extra hour and head to Gila Bend.|||No problem
I-10 W to exit 161(?) which is Loop 202>
Take Loop 202 to Loop 101 N and then stay with 101 North to I-17 N
Take I-17 N 3 or 4 exits to the Rt 74 / Carefree Highway exit
Make a left
Take that over to US 60
Make a right and follow it into Wickenburg
Get gas either as soon as you get on I-17 [Deer Valley Rd ] or in Wickenburg
Note : 101 sux at rush hour But it moves most other times of the day

I have a Tucson and it looks like the anchor systems are on the side seats, not the center. I thought the middle was the safest place for an infant car seat. We have a chicco with the LATCH system so I want to be able to use it but it looks like I'll have to use the seatbelt if I want to install in the middle. Is that right or am I reading the manual wrong?|||I would read the manual for the car, I know my Nissan tells you where the safest place for a rear facing, forward and a booster is. Good luck...you could always ask the hospital as well.|||First: the safest position for a car seat is where it fits the best. The safest way to install it is whichever gives you the best installation. LATCH is not safer than seatbelts. It was invented to be more convenient and universal than seatbelt installing, but it failed on both counts b/c of the wide variance between vehicles on how far apart the LATCH anchors are. Most cars prohibit using LATCH in the center position, you're right. So if you are dead set on LATCH, you will have to use an outer position.
Try installing in the center with seatbelt.
Try installing outboard with seatbelt.
Try installing outboard with LATCH.
Now pick whichever installation was the best. A car seat is installed properly when there is less than 1" of movement at the belt path.|||You are reading it correctly! If you can get a solid install in the center with the seatbelt, then put it there. If not, then put it outboard with LATCH or the vehicle seatbelt. Whichever method you use you should have less than one inch of movement at the beltpath (where the seatbelt or LATCH strap goes through the base.

So my friend is obsessed with pizza and I wanna tke him to a pizza place that will show us how to make a pizza by hand is that available in Tucson If so please list thanks|||Honey - they aren't in the business to teach you how to make pizza, that would slow them down. And you probably coulndt do exactly what they do, at home, because you don't have a commercial dough mixer, commercial ovens, pizza peels, etc.
Making a pizza isn't hard at all. Just buy a pizza shell at the store, and pizza sauce, cheese and toppings. Precook any meat topping you want to put on there (except pepperioni is already precooked) smear a thin layer of sauce, a thin layer of cheese then the meat(s) and then the veggies, top with more cheese.
Bake until brown on top. It's not hard at all.|||There is no pizza places that will teach you how to create a pizza, unless you enrolled into culinary arts school.|||There is no pizza places that will teach you how to create a pizza,|||sure
My family and I are going to Tucson and we are wondering where to stay?|||Little known fact: when Tucson, Arizona was first settled, it was called San Francisco, California!
;)
(for a real response: try asking in the "Phoenix" category. It's at least in the same state.)|||there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely show you great hotels at the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.|||I recommend not staying in San Francisco if you want to visit Tucson.
He loves beer, meat and all of the stuff most men do. I'm looking for an activity to entertain us for the afternoon/evening plus a great place for drinks and possibly another great place for dinner. I am not native to the Tucson area and don't know where to begin.|||Look for restaurants that are either microbreweries or have great craft beer lists. (Meaning, they go beyond Budweiser, Miller, etc.) It would be even better if they have a good happy hour. One of our favorite restaurants in Bowling Green, OH has a craft beer list and a happy hour from two to six in the afternoon. The appetizers are only $4 and they really don't have beer specials. THey have a $2 beer of the day, though. Usually it's something boring like Budweiser, or Labast; Last Saturday we were there and it was MGD 64. We don't do light beer. (Two times ago it was Ommegang Hennepin and we think it was because they were drying hte keg to make room for something new.) Anyway, I'm digressing.
I'm not sure how to look for the restaurants with craft lists, but for microwbrewery do a search for "tuscon microbreweries" or "tuscon breweries", etc. We also like Maumee Bay Brewery in TOledo. We're not crazy about the food, but the beer is great. (My favorite is the Oatmeal Breakfast Stout.) They have a cafe that is only open from 11-3, but has a great house made black bean burger on a whole wheat bun. HTta is nicely unique in itself.
Anyway, I hope this has been of some help. Perhaps do a restaurnt search for Tuscon and look at the on-line menus.|||La Poca Cosa. Fresh ingredients and specials made daily. Always hit that place when I come down from Phoenix.|||red daisy, any tuscon bar
I am interested in getting a small suv very soon. I looked at the Honda CRV, Toyota Rav 4 and the Tucson. I am petite (5 feet), I felt the Rav 4 was big and I didn't love the CRV. I liked the look of the Tucson and I felt comfortable in it. You always hear how great Honda and Toyota are and I was wondering how are the Hyundai's. Thank you for your help!|||The 2010 Tucson is a great vehicle and if you like it go for it - you won't be disappointed. I own a 2009 i30 (Elantra Touring in N. America) in Korea and I absolutely love this car.
In 2004, Hyundai tied with Honda for initial brand quality in a survey/study from J.D. Power and Associates, for having 102 problems per 100 vehicles. This made Hyundai second in the industry, only behind Toyota, for initial vehicle quality. The company continued this tradition by placing third overall in J.D. Power's 2006 Initial Quality Survey, behind only Porsche and Lexus. Hyundai/Kia Automotive Group is the world鈥檚 fourth largest automaker (second in Asia) in terms of units manufactured and sold per year and one of the Big Asian Four (with Toyota, Honda and Nissan).
In recent interviews with Toyota executives, they have expressed concerns about Hyundai-Kia and their market share. Hyundai-Kia is the only automobile manufacturer that Toyota fears - and that says something. Kia is also moving up sales rapidly, even quicker than Hyundai due to their improving quality and design (hired the head designer from Audi about two years ago). Hyundai-Kia is the fastest growing foreign brand in China and is the largest exporter of cars in India (Hyundai has plants in both countries). Hyundai-Kia was the only major automaker to sell more vehicles in 2009 than 2008.|||It is a good one. I was at the dealer recently getting an oil change. So, I went up to a man with a TUscon and asked him about the car. He loved it and his wife also liked it very much. The man did not make one complaint about the car.

Does my landlord have to have a renters license to rent out homes in Tucson Arizona? Do you know any good sites that I can go to? What could happen if they don't have a license when one is required?|||No renters license required by the landlord in Tuscon, AZ|||It all depends on if they are managing property they own or not. Private owners managing their own property are not required to have a license in most states. If they are required all they would typically get is a fine.
If they are doing something wrong then you need to take the proper legal action. Reporting them for the license would just be retaliation & a little petty. Yes, it will get them in trouble but it will not benefit you in anyway.
EDIT: Even if they are renting without a license that is between them & the real estate agency & does not effect you or your lease.
I'm moving from the UK to Tucson and I was wondering how easy is it to get a customer service/banking/admin job there or in the states period? and how much would i be looking at getting? I have 4 years experience but no college degree :(
Thanks|||With four years experience, you probably have a reasonable chance of finding something. Jobs are kind of tough to find these days, so don't get discouraged if you don't find something the first few weeks. Some jobs of the type you listed might require a degree, but most don't. It's probably harder for someone coming into the country to find a job than someone who has already worked here - then again, many people here love British accents, so that might work in your favor. (Once when we visited the UK years ago, one of my daughter's cousins took her to school with her so her friends could hear her American accent, so I guess it's all in the ear of the beholder).
Realize that salary scales might be lower here than in the UK. But costs are lower too. We've visited the UK a number of times, and often the cost in the UK in pounds isn't much different than the US cost in dollars, even though the pound is worth almost twice as much as the dollar.
Salaries in Tucson are somewhat lower than the US average, but depending on the job you'd probably make mid-teens to low 20's thousands of dollars per year.
Tucson is a great place to live. I lived there for four years and really enjoyed it.
Good luck.|||that funny, you need a degree, now days to work at a car wash|||Are you moving legally to the United States of America?|||When I moved to Tucson from Detroit, Michigan I had a really hard time of finding a decent paying job. I have a four-year degree and I found that I was too experienced for most of the jobs. Since you are interested in a customer service related job you probably won't have as tough of a time as I did. There are lots of call centers...AOL being the largest...and they are always hiring and give decent benefits. I worked at VMS, which also advertises job postings a lot. The cost of living is beginning to increase a lot in Tucson and the wages are not being matched. There are too many Californians, retirees and investers flooding the real estate market, thus driving up the cost of the working class. I ended up giving up on Tucson and taking up a job in Phoenix. Good luck!

I'll assume you have a cell phone in case of a possible breakdown or accident, and an accident is doubtful. It's a good open road especailly at night. But Phoenix finally grew up at last. It's now so much better than it was before. Will Tucson finally get it at last?|||For one thing, (and I'm convinced of this; it's the conspiracy theorist in me...) the Mafia no longer has the hold on Tucson it once had, and the petty crime in the streets is no longer being policed by them.
For another thing, too many liberals live there and they've junked the place up with their anti-business sentiment and their programs, such as giving free needles to smack addicts so they don't get AIDS. All it did was give the smack addicts a way to shoot their heroin safely, so now there are thousands more of them than there used to be.
I talked with a person high on the roster at the UofA Ag school a couple of years back. (UofA used to be one of the top ag schools in the nation.) Now, it seems, they can no longer hold a class on the main campus. They have to keep to their facility up on Campbell and Limberlost because PETA and other lefty groups don't want them there. They fail to realize that it's a land grant university, and they'll lose federal funding if they continue to shove their ag school farther and farther off the map. Coach Olsen's basketball club can't support the school forever.
Also, the food has gone downhill. I remember great restaurants when I was growing up, but you can't get Mexican food there now -- just that Baja crap. And all the Chinese places have pretty much dried up or gone the way of bad cooking and substandard ingredients. Eegees is about the last food I look forward to when I'm heading for Tucson.
Radio used to be king there. Now KTKT, the former rock station, has turned into yammering heads and Mojo and Betsy aren't even a memory any more on 93.9.

Thank You,
Apollo Shayy and Drina|||Wow! That's a tall order. I'm a professional songwriter. I'm not from Tucson (I'm in Albuquerque) so, I guess I don't count but, here are some ideas of where you might go to find the person you are looking for. If you are going to stay stuck on that age group however, you won't find many in that age at these locations. Try the International Songwriter's Association (ISA), The Songwriter's Guild of America, Nashville Songwriter's Association International (NSAI). There are also the Performance Rights Organizations (PRO). These people pay the songwriters and artists. They are BMI, ASCAP, and SESAC. Those people can likely put you in touch with local songwriters in Tucson. I'm not sure I understand your comment about being "versatile in their style". Most of the writers I know, write in two or three genres only. I personally write in several because I like many different kinds of music ranging from heavy metal to jazz and even including country, rock, pop, and new age. You might also post notices at all of the local music stores in Tucson. I know at Grandma's music and Guitar Center here in Albuquerque, they have bulletin boards where bands who are looking for members and songwriters looking for musicians can find each other. It also pays to ask everyone you come in contact with; "do you know anyone who writes music?" You might also try writing your own music and lyrics. Even if you're not musicians, with today's technology, all you really need is an idea. You can hum or sing the melody into a computer running one of the many recording software programs on the market and then the software can determine the chords and write the music for you. I do that. It saves a lot of time. Then you just need to write some words to go with it. For instance, I asked my granddaughter for a popular phrase that her and her girlfriends say to each other. She replied jokingly "That guy's hot". Well, there you have it. An idea for a song. So, I dinked around on the keyboard a little and tried to imagine what a group of 14 year old girls would say to each other regarding cute guys. and came up with a draft for some lyrics and my granddaughter loves it. It's not finished yet (she's helping me write it now) but, that's how easy it is to come up with an idea for pop music today. You can probably do that yourself right away and end up with better music than some stranger will create for you. If you have not seen it yet, rent the movie "Music and Lyrics" with Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore you might get some good ideas from that movie. Just my 2-cents. But, then I'm over 40 also so go figure on that one. Not a creep though! Good luck to you! We need more talented singers and musicians.

-sights
that only locals would know about.
I'm seeking help from mostly residents of these cities, but anyone's advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. :D|||These are some place for Tucson.
1. The Sonoran Desert Museum is something fun for the whole family. They have lots of great desert animals. Get there as early as possible before it gets hot and all the animals take a nap. If you go on a weekend, they will have docents to give you more info and maybe have some animal you can touch (lizards, tarantulas, snakes,...)
2. The Titan Missile Museum is another great family site. They take you into what was once an actual Titan Missile facility. Very top secret when it was operational. Very educational.
3. The best restaurant in town is Cafe Poca Cosa. It's located in downtown Tucson on Pennington Street. Big lime green parking garage looking building. Anyway, it has great food. I hesitate to call it Mexican food, because it is not what you think. No burritos, tacos, or enchiladas here. Just really good fresh food. Go for lunch to save some money. Try the "Chefs Special" to sample more if this is your first time. You get 3 smaller portions of the entree, but you don't get to choose which 3.|||I live in downtown Phoenix and love it. Restaurants you might want to try are Cibo which is a very nice pizza place. For a more family setting try The Old Spaghetti Factory. This is one of my favorite places. It has a trolley in the middle of the restaurant and things all over the walls. The tables and chairs are pretty different too. If there is a game going on while you are here you definately want to check that out. There are always tons of people outside riding the light rail, eating on patios, and just having fun at the games. If you go outside of downtown a bid there is Castles and Coasters which you children should love. I've listed the websites under source.|||Well, some fun and unique things to do in Phoenix are

As for Phx!, I'm a born and raised phoenician I would reccomend going to the wild life zoo with you're family, it's a spectacular zoo and they recently opened a large aquarium there. This is alot better then the phx zoo because you can get a lot closer and personal with the animals its great!, you get to see penguins in the desert!
For restaurants, Fudruckers is a popular choice its got just classic american food burgers and all but it's aimed for the children and has a great environment. Living here my whole life and having been only to cali i'm not too sure on a lot of restaurants if they're actually chains or not. You can try Mama's kitchen in glendale its really good food but it looks like a hole in the wall. Also Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville is in Glendale and it has people walking around on stilts so its a fun environment too!
Also along glendale ave, around 55th ave there is a great chocolate factory called cerrta candy co. you can go on a factory tour and have a lot of fun.
As for shops it really depends what your looking for if its native culture I would reccomend parts of downtown Scottsdale they've got rows and rows of shops that have unique and great things to buy. As well as a great art district, you can watch peolpe making glass sculptures blowing them with they're mouths and its really interesting, there is a place called teh sugar bowl thats down there, right along scottsdale rd near both those area's of shops.
You can email me if you have any questions or want to know anything else!

I have 7 days in Tucson, mainly for the Gem show in Feb 08 but, would like to see the Grand Canyon and Tombstone too if possible, if they are not too far away! I am unable to walk far only about a mile, so any tips on tours etc, would be very helpful, thanks.|||It's about a 5-6 hour drive|||Depending upon whether or not you hit snow on the way up there it's about 6 hours
Your best bet is to rent a car and just drive up there. Make sure you get a V-6 in it because you will have 3 major climbs to do and there is no substitute for horsepower
Question :
The way that the road system is set up in GCNP I think that the longest walk you will have from anywhwere that you would park to the Rim would be under 1/4 mi and in most places much closer.
Question:
Since you can only walk a mile can you handle walking at 7500' ?
Everyone I talk to says the weather is really hot for the majority of the year without much of a winter. I live in Sacramento, California and the weather is pretty great here. How different would you say the weather in Tucson is compared to Sacramento?|||Tucson is in the desert. Generally, the weather in the desert is best described as "Hot, hotter and hottest, with torrential rains during the monsoon season". (That's hot in the winter and going up from there.) But those are daytime temperatures. At night, due to the high altitude and little cloud cover, temperatures can go from the 90's and 100's during the day to near freezing at night.
And that white stuff that falls from the sky up North - sNOw - can happen rarely, but you don't need a shovel, just a broom will get it off the walk, but don't orry, it will all be melted by noon. (And nobody there knows how to dreive in the stuff!)
Don't ask about the wildlife, (including 2-legged and 4-legged coyotes), the amount of illegal drugs that go through there, the number of Mexicans who don't have green cards and other problems... 'cause I ain't talking. LOL|||Your city is very wet and mild in the winter and warm and dry in the summer, and Tucson is generally warmer than Sacramento overall, with warmer and drier winters and hotter and wetter summers.
I would like to relocate to Tucson Arizona or vicinity and want to move into an ultra inexpensive place. I have five cats and know parks won't take that many. Does anyone know how I can move and own for a really low cost?|||It would have to be zoned for a trailer, not a house. Honestly I have never seen a trailer around there and I have spend a lot of time in Tucson.
You would need to get an agent to find vacant land zoned for a trailer, or an existing one. The odds are not good.
I want breed my female teacup chihuahua, but can't find a male. I want to now if anyone in Tucson, Arizona has a male that the can lend me or something.|||look online for teacup chihuahua breeders in your area...some might have studs for breeding...i found 3 breeders for pom chis in my area..|||I hope you have over $1,000 saved up for a c-section delivery. Small dogs-- and especially dogs under 4 pounds-- have problems with delivery. Even if the male is small, he could have larger dogs in his pedigree and throw larger pups.
Also you can lose the mother in a complicated delivery.
My vet was telling me about his vet tech who bred her chihuahua. The placenta from the last pup never even got expelled, so it got infected inside of her. I think the cost was around $5,000 in medical bills. The dog lived though.
And chihuahuas are the #2 dog in shelters after pit bulls, so it's not like there aren't plenty of chihuahuas in the world.
I don't think it's a good idea to breed your dog.|||No, Do you know why? Because they do not exist. What BYBs called a "teacup" is a badly bred runt prone to health problems.
No reputable breeder will ever breed dogs that are way to small, its causes way to many problems in health and later in life.
Please read this and research a dog before you get one!
http://www.barkrescue.net/teacup.htm
Oh I though you said you wanted a puppy not you wanted to breed your dog.
and the answer is NO! There are already to many BYBs out there that cause suffering and death because they are selfish and want money. Your dog is to small to be bred if its a "teacup" AKA runt. Have you shown your dog? Did she earn her CH? health testing? etc...etc...etc...you have no business breeding!

I am looking for everyone's general opinion on the Hyundai Tucson. How it looks, drives, handles, or what you have read about it. Thanks.|||Here are 23 user reviews from yahoo auto on the Tucson, its a great place to live by the way!
Fun to drive and good room for dog and golfers. Seats fold flat very easily and the middle armrest serves as a seat for small dog. Sports shift is fun, but the engine power curve needs to be flattened. It seems to bog at lower RPMs|||I have read that it is nothing special. Hyundais get better every year but I think your money is better spent on a CR-V or the new RAV4, if you can spend a little more. Both will be more reliable and retain more value over time. Hyundais in general plummet in value after only a couple of years. If you're looking at a used one, it's probably a good deal because of the 5 year warranty and the poor resale value, but if you're buying new, stay away.

Will there be less cloud coverage if I live further north or west closer to ocean? Don't want to go into lack of blue sky shock from leaving Tucson. Thanks!|||In the NW we have specific words for rain which you might not be aware of. "Rainy weather" means it rains all day and the sun is not visible. Weather with occasional rain is "showers": that is, intervals of rain mixed with not raining, during which the sky could be overcast, partly clear, or completely clear.
Both types of weather are possible any time of the year, though summer is more apt to have clear sky and winter is more likely to be rainy. Spring and fall are most likely to be showery.
Being further north or west doesn't improve the cloud cover significantly. There is a rain shadow behind the Olympic Range which moves around, but is most often north of Tacoma to South of Seattle. Close to the coast has more fog and low overcast than being further inland.
To increase blue sky, you'd have to be east of the Cascades, though that wouldn't be a practical commute for a Seattle-area job. The Cascades cause orographic lift which leads to adiabatic cooling of the air and heavy precipitation on the mountains. After the air passes over the mountains, it reheats on descent and is much drier. There's a resort near Central Oregon (Kah-nee-tah) which claims 300 sunny days a year.

I mean it is very horrible what happened in Tucson and I feel for the victims but hey our troops are putting their lives on the line every day and I don't see him giving 2 minutes of silence for each of them. Maybe I missed something.|||Obama has done more to help Veterans in 2 years, than gw did after sending them to into war.
He has also made it more visible to the public, when fallen soldiers return.
gw hid the consequences of war, and his from it. bush gave veterans 8 years of silence!
America uses it's Veterans badly. They are great when people want to flex their muscles, pound their chest, wave a flag and send troops to war. I remember this country well when "Operation Iraqi Freedom" began. People were so proud to send American troops into war.
You don't want to pay for the wounded soldier's return. When they come home with wounds you can't see.
You don't want to care for them, their families that give up their lives to pick up the pieces America drops.
You don't want to hire them, because you WON'T learn anything about PTSD. You get scared.
1 homeless Veteran is 1 too many.
How many does your state have?
You don't want mentally ill people on your streets, in your neighborhoods, but you don't want to pay for programs that make a difference to the afflicted and community alike.
Veterans budgets have been slashed and under funded for years.
Hate Obama all you like for all the reasons you wish, EXCEPT the treatment of Veterans!|||This is a typical human reaction.\
Everybody dies; this is always saddening, but not always so shocking.
You expect soldiers to get killed; they are at war.
You don't expect random defenseless civilians to be gunned down, for no apparent reason, in a public space in the USA.
From the point of view of principle, of course, every person's death is equally important. The purpose of public mourning is more to heal the living than anything else. This is a perfectly valid aim. There's not much we can do for the dead.
The soldiers do, of course, deserve special honor for volunteering to risk their lives.|||Hint about history. Obama had nothing to do with getting us involved in the quagmire of Afghanistan or Iraq. Having lived in Tucson for almost 12 years now, I still have never been able to find a place to go and park with a good view of the city. If anybody knows of any good places, preferably where you could drive and park as I said, that would be great. I just moved to Tucson from the midwest, and I am curious about the small lizards that run around all over the place. They're very small, just a few inches long from head to the end of their tails, and they like to hang out around the rocks in my backyard and on the bricks on the house, but I see them all over town - parking lots, on the sides of buildings, rummaging around rocks and stuff. Anyone know what species they are?|||I live in Tucson, too. The ones that hang around my house (all over my porch) are Geckos. I love them, they're so little and cute. Like these ones http://www.southwesternherp.com/lizards/鈥?/a> or this one http://wc.pima.edu/Bfiero/tucsonecology/鈥?/a>
There's also tons of lizards running all over the neighborhood that I would call "regular lizards", but they do have real names, like Tree Lizard http://wc.pima.edu/Bfiero/tucsonecology/鈥?/a> Greater Earless Lizard http://wc.pima.edu/Bfiero/tucsonecology/鈥?/a> and the Side-Blotched Lizard http://www.reptilesofaz.org/Lizards-Subp鈥?/a> Everytime I take my dog for a walk, we see at least 10 lizards run across the sidewalk in front of us. I'm pretty sure most are Tree Lizards or Greater Earless Lizards.
The other day I saw a Spiny Lizard across the street. That was the first time I had seen one of those. http://wc.pima.edu/Bfiero/tucsonecology/鈥?/a>
We also once saw a Horned Lizard near the wash by our home. Stay away from these, they squirt blood from their eyes to ward off predators (or people or dogs)! http://wc.pima.edu/Bfiero/tucsonecology/鈥?/a>
On the outskirts of the city, you may also see Gila Monsters, which are venomous, so don't go near them! http://wc.pima.edu/Bfiero/tucsonecology/鈥?/a>
I love lizards...I think they're so cute and cool. Pretty much all the ones that might be hanging around your house are harmless to you, and eat the bugs that might bother you. They're good to have around...My friend told me recently she kills lizards when she finds them in her house, and I was appalled. Some people are saying its a good think that Obama is coming to Tucson to remember those killed in the shooting on Saturday. But other say that it is a publicity stunt. What do you think?|||I live in Tucson and Obama came today.
I watched the entire thing on TV and I feel that it was really nice to remember everyone killed.
I think it needed to happen.
January 8th was a very sad day for me and many other people in Tucson.
Gabrielle Giffords is extremely wonderful and kind-hearted.
And none of the other shooting victims deserved to die.
<3|||It's what all Presidents do. The job of the presidency is not to be politican 24/7 but to be a representative of all during times of tragedy and grief! Those who don't like President Obama will say it's a photo opt but then u can tell them that President Bush's travel to New York right after 9/11 was just a photo opt! This is major because of the nature that someone tried to assasinate a member of congress and things like that rarely happened and are don't right sick. No matter what side of the political spectrum your from, having someone or group trying to silence our voices through our representatives is un American and goes against the principles of out democracy! So yes it's very much called for!|||Well if he didn't do it he'd be under fire. So if it is a publicity stunt well it's sad that at the leaders of our nation must involve themselves in such acts. My cousin is moving to Tucson and we are driving so we wandered what would be the best way to get there. Any suggestions?|||Your question is an oxymoron. The fastest route is not the most interesting route.
I drove from Philly to Tucson in 2002 by the most interesting route which was not very fast.
The most interesting route is down the Skyline Drive, Blud Ridge Parkway on down to the Smokies Park going across TN and down the Natchez Trace, crossing the Mississippi at Natchez, heading across Texas through Lufkin, Waco, San Angelo and on up to Hobbs, NM to Alamogordo to Lourdsburg and into AZ taking 80S into Douglas, Bisbee and Tombstone before hitting Tucson.
Fast is another story.PA Turnpike to Route 70W to St. Louis 44W to 40W to 25S to 10W. Boring most of the way. Done this route too.

I am living at Tucson, AZ and here I noticed that I am losing my hair, and my skin is too dry. I noticed to that there are lots of people here at Tucson that have hair problems and are going bald, even the womens (I have seen many of them going bald at every place I go.). so I was wondering what kind of shower filter I have to buy.|||I grew up there. You have Colorado River water and it comes to you in an open trench. So the authorities put chlorine in it to make it safe because animals etc fall into the water and they need to kill the bacteria. It eats up the pipes in older homes , so I can imagine its not good for your hair.
I really don't know about any filters as such. You can use a clarifying shampoo and a really good conditioner.
I know there are water filtration units, but they cost a lot. Look up water filtration in the phone book and ask what they recommend.
I would use bottled water to drink. Good luck.
I'm in the military and after this deployment is over I'm going to need an apartment in Tucson and I was wondering how much the electric bill might be. Its just me and my wife and a newborn. Maybe 2 TV's and a computer is most of the big electric items we would use.|||Usage is only one part of the bill. Utility Companies charge a Base Delivery Fee and then add on usage. My Company charges $95 as base. You need to check the Electric company for your city and look up the base rate then double it. This gives you a good estimate. The big electric users are items running all day such as Refrigerator|||When we had our 800 sq. ft. house, our electric bill was anywhere from $60-$250. It has a relatively simple V6 engine. The automatic transmission is a little less advanced than some, I don't think it includes an overdrive which would be nice. I will be moving to Tucson, Arizona (The southeast side) in September. What is the average cost in utilities for a small 2/3 bedroom house? There will be 2 adults and a toddler. Hopefully we can use a fan to beat the heat moreso than the air. Trying to put together a budget.
Thanks!|||It all depends on how low you put the thermostat and what kind of cooling system you have. The geneal rule of thumb is that an evaperative cooler uses about 1/4 of the energy as an A/C unit. I used to be able to run my evap cooler half of the day in a small but drafty 1920s house for about $40 per month. Since moving to a larger and more energy efficient house with A/C, my bill was closer to $100 but I also keep the thermostat in the low to mid 80s all day.
Figure for most average size houses you are looking at $75-$100 per month. If you have a historic house then the cost will probably be $25-$50 higher due to the air leaks and construction materials used.

I am traveling with my young son to Tucson in March to visit family for a few days. We have a few days to ourselves and were looking for other things to do. We'll be at the pool (if it's warm enough) and already have tickets to Spring Training baseball. Any other suggestions?|||I lived in Tucson for over 20 years and raised two kids there. Eight months old is a little young, but here are a few ideas he might enjoy anyway.
Reid Park and the Reid Park Zoo. If you're from a large city the zoo in Tucson is not really large or impressive, but it's nice. These days they have enough shade along the walkways for the little ones and the Tigers are beautiful. When my kids were little they could spend an hour just watching the otters playing. As soon as you leave the zoo, there's a nice park you're in the middle of. There's a pond with paddle boats and a lot of ducks you can feed and just have a lazy day. March weather there will be nice with just a sweater --if that.
The Arizona Sonora Desert Museum is great for adults and kids of all ages. It's basically a zoo of desert animals and a museum with some cool displays on geology in the area. If you get a chance to see one of the talks about snakes in the area or be there on a busier day when the docents have some of the animals you can touch out it's really fun. Make the time to go to that talk or see all the fun touchables. Also, the food is decent at the small restrauntant to the left of the entrance. Warning! Do not be taken in by that taxidermy museum of wildlife that's on the way to the desert museum. That is NOT what you want to go to. Drive right on past it to the Desert Museum.
If you do any big shopping days I'd suggest Park Mall since there's a nice play area where he can play with some really little kids and you can sit and take a break.
I can't think of a lot else for a child that small. There are some other things you might like and your child might sleep through --the Center for Creative Photography at UA campus. They always have something interesting going on there.
If the UA women's softball team is playing then it's worth going. The games are fast-moving and exciting. My kids always loved watching that --but they were a little older.
When he gets a bit older I could suggest some great hikes where you can look back over the city at the top --like Pontatoc Ridge and a few hikes up Wasson Peak. I guess if he's still small enough for you to carry him in a kid-pack this could still be fun. You'll be there at a time of year that's not too bad weather-wise.
I hope some of this was helpful.
Take care,
Cyndy|||There's lots of fun things to do in the Tucson area! How about some of these?

I'm looking to plant a garden in tucson this summer but i'm not sure what flowers can survive in this type of weather with minimal attention paied to them. Any ideas?|||You should contact your county extension office, they should have a list of ideal plants like we in Cochise County have. We are at a higher elevation here (4600') so my plant list won't do for your elevation of 2000-3000'.
You, for instance, can plant citrus trees outside. We can't. And I love lime trees in bloom! You can grow Bougainvilleas, we have more difficulty with that plant.
If the focus is on "minimal attention" then I'd suggest stick with a xeriscaped plan, a collection of low-water and drought-tolerant plants.
Tucson is so beautiful in the spring when all the plants are in bloom!|||Succulents flowers too same with some cactus, crassulas and euphorbias. I'm trying to follow the trend of minimizing use of water so I built a 6x6 square patch on my lawn, dug the grass and line it with vinyl/plastic then cover with sand. Sites such as www.Expedia.com are your best guides. Expect it to cost at least $800.|||You should provide further details, as to how many people, and which dates. A round-trip ticket in May for one adult in May with taxes in this price with Continental Airlines with one-stop in Houston is $724.89.|||Go to www.melindarowan.rovia.com and enter the information. This way you will have the exact amount for you specific dates.
With Jefferson as what would be considered a modern day Democrat, and Hamilton, who could be considered as a modern day Republican, how do you think they would have responded to the 2011 shooting in Tucson?|||They would expect him to be arrested for murder, sent to trial and then be hanged by the neck until dead, and that would be the end of it.|||Jefferson a modern day Democrat?|||there have always been crazy people. I dont think our founding fathers would have much to say on it
My Hyundai Tucson is aqua silver in color. Could any one out there tell me as to the exact color of its bumper?|||It depends what model you have. I have a Tuscon Xenith in black and the bumpers are colour coded, also the Limited ones are also colour coded. The only ones I have seen in Aqua Silver have black matt bumpers. Best to contact your local dealer, they can advise you I'm sure.|||The bumpers on my Hyundai are the same color as the rest of the car. If yours is different, as the dealer or post a picture here so people can see it
My partner and I would like to have a baby. And, wanted to know how much artificial insemination cost in Tucson, Arizona? And, if you know of any good doctors and where they are located? Thanks so much. :)|||We would need more info to be able to give you an estimate.
The cost of artificial insemination can vary greatly - will you be doing a medicated cycle? Would it be with something like Clomid or injectibles? What sort of monitoring would the doctor do regarding blood tests and ultrasounds? Will you be purchasing donor sperm or do you have a partner or known donor? When you say artificial insemination, are you talking about an IUI or IVF?
Basically an IUI can cost anywhere from several hundred to several thousand dollars (injectible fertility medications alone can cost a few thousand dollars) and IVF (where they take extra steps to remove the eggs and fertilize them in the lab) would be $12,000+ on average.
It would be best to meet with a fertility specialist, have a check up, see what they recommend and go from there - cost at different clinics can also vary widely.
Here is a great site that you can visit to look up clinics in the US and success rates:
http://www.sart.org/
Good luck!|||Have you thought of using fsdw? It's subscription but quite cheap, not sure what it'd be in $ but it costs me 拢20 a month. My boyfriend and I (he's infertile) met with several men who had signed up to be free donors before settling on one who was a good match for us. Our one is actually a clinic registered donor so we know he's had std checks etc but obv there is more risk with fresh sperm. The success rates are higher than frozen though. You could ask them to donate to a clinic if you'd prefer frozen.|||5-10000

In 1916, Pancho Villa ordered an attack on the town of Columbus, New Mexico, USA. In short, 84 people were killed. There is now a statue of him in a park in downtown Tucson. American hero or terrorist? I say terrorist. Maybe in 80 or 90 years we can erect a statue commemorating Osama bin Laden.|||do a Bart Simpson and cut off his head|||Tucson has way more bigger problems than a statue dingleberry - that town is a **** hole!! Report Abuse
|||this reason lacks the vindication to label Pancho Villa as a terrorist. You get mad at this, but nobody gets mad when they mention that in 1848 when James K. Polk through his own greed wanted to buy California, New Mexico, and other territories from Mexico. And when Mexico refused he got pissed off and forced Mexico to attack the United States in order to declare war. Mexico wanted no part in this whatsoever, but they were forced by the US. what do you call that?
We, as Mexicans, hold Pancho Villa as a national hero because he led the Northeners in the Mexican Revolution against the dictatorship of Porfirio Diaz in 1911 just like George Washington is seen as a national hero for leading the American Revolution in 1776 against the British.|||You could have people sign a petition and send it to the city mayor or someone like that and make sure you include a good reason why?|||Tear it the %*^& down.
That is not cool.....I don't remember seeing a Hitler statue.

We will be going to Tucson and I wanted to know what some of the good places that other people enjoy/enjoyed there.|||Old Tucson is one place..its a cowboy town, where some famous movies have been made, the "mission" a very large church area out in the dessert, lots of indian background..there is also the tucson zoo..pretty nice place, not as big as the phx zoo. but its enjoyabel|||http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuscon%2C_A鈥?/a>
I want to visit a friend who is currently studying at the University of Arizona. I don't have a car, nor much money. I'd like to know the easiest perhaps safest way to get to Tucson via public transportation.|||Spending a lot of money to fly 100 miles doesn't make sense. The least expensive way is Greyhound bus. If you choose this option purchase your ticket online at "www.greyhound.com".
As you make your reservation you will come to the "Schedules" page. Select your trip ONLY from the 7:50 am, 5:20 pm, or 9:40 pm departures.. ALL other departure times are contracted out to various Mexican based bus companies whose equipment, and drivers may not meet the same safety standards Greyhound owned equipment, and trained drivers must meet.
The trip times range from 2 to 2 1/2 hours, and the fares from $18.00 to $24.00 each way. The various shuttle companies cost roughly the same, and they will only transport you from airport to airport.|||You can fly from Phoenix to Tucson
there are also shuttles
I am currently renting a room in California. Basicly, all I pay is my phone bill (plus rent). I do contribute pay for utility bills, but the amount depends on how much I use.
I am about to get an apartment in Tucson Arizona. I got two options:
1. 600/month apartment (water included)
2. 600/ month apartment (electricity included)
Which one should I take?
And how much more would I need for other expenses?|||I live near downtown in a duplex and my bills are as follows:
$45/month cable internet from Cox (so much nicer than Quest DSL)
$30-$60/month electricity (I tend to spend more in the winter because I am in an older house which is really nicely ventilated in the summer, but horrible in the winter. Swamp coolers are much cheaper than A/C)
$20-$30/month gas (it is for my water heater and stove/oven)
Water is free for me, but I don't know of any landlords in town who charge for water. When I lived in a bottom floor apartment, the heat and A/C were cheaper because my neighbors helped insulate the place. Generally, if you can make do with it being colder in the winter and warmer in the summer, a cheaper place with the electricity not included is a good bet. However, since your two options are the same price, I would go for the one with the electricity included.|||well get electricity paid so you an crank up the AC. you gotta pay: gas electric, water, garbage, rent, food. phone, internet, cable. some are optional, some not. good luck
im planning to stay in glendale for 5 days, and get around phoenix for another 2 days, then planning to go to Tucson for another sightseeing. From then, i will travel north, heading to the Grand Canyon.
How many hours will it take me to get to the Grand Canyon? Coz right after that, i'll cross Nevada and California as well, and i only have 20 days to make up this tour. Thanks in advance!|||6 to 6.5 hours depending on how many times you stop for gas and to eat.|||Your looking around 5-6 hours!|||it is 345 miles to gc from 2son az it will take you 5 hr and 31 min. least that is what map quest tells me.|||You really are looking at 5-6 hours depending on traffic in the Phoenix area. Make sure you look to your left to see the Sedona Red Rocks as you go up the I-17.|||About 6 hours. It's a pretty boring ride until you get past Phoenix, then it's get's interesting. I just got a leaf blower. I think it has a vacuum function as well, but it seems so much easier to just blow the leaves into the street for the street sweeper to pick them up. Is that illegal? I live in Tucson.|||It's not legal and it's not propper. How often does the streets sweeper come? Consider the street as your living room. Keep it clean.
MD|||Where I live it's illegal. The street sweeper only come through twice a week. It's better to blow them into a corner and bag for collection or make compost.|||no it ok
Hi, my gf and i are trying to drive from tucson arizona to vancouver washington and are planning on leaving the day after christmas. we heard that the I-5, which every site tells us to take, closes in the winter due to snow so we obviously need an alternate route. any help?|||the only place I 5 can close is in the mountains between oregon and cali . just plane to drive that part around ten in the morning and read the electric road signs on the way. They up date every 20 minutes
If its a bad winter the roads in Nevada will be worse.|||I'm from Tacoma, WA. We get very little snow in December. You shouldn't have any problem if you stick to I-5. If there happens to be any snow, you'll hit it about mid-Oregon, and I-5 being the major route that it is, there will be deicer trucks all over the place. Don't worry. You'll make it just fine.|||I5 is probably your best bet since it is a major interstate. You may run into some delays, but you will be able to get threw ok. Like others have said, if you go down threw NV, you might run into some problems since they are not major roads and some may be closed.
I have a 10 year old daughter who is very energetic and bores easily. We will be on vacation in Tucson during the last week of March.|||If you're staying at a hotel, hopefully there will be a pool there, and a concierge to ask about good places to go, or at least a bunch of brochures to look over and decide. There is an area I think to the east of the city that has good hiking (might be a National Park or state park of some sort - I can't remember). Also, if you're driving there from Phoenix, there is a cool ostrich farm between the two cities, and I believe closer to Tucson. They have parrots there, too. Is there a supplier in Tucson that caters to people feeding raw diets? Or should I just buy the stuff from my local grocery store? Anyone else in Tucson doing raw diet?|||Here you go-
The Tucson Raw Feeders Co-op

cathy@tucsonraw.com
Tucson Raw was founded in September of 2002 by less than a dozen members.
We worked together to make feeding raw foods to our animals cost efficient and convenient.
Since then we have grown to over 200 members and have access to 27 different items on a monthly basis.|||Here's a Yahoo Group for raw feeders in Phoenix & Tucson. If you apply to join the group, they probably can point you towards suppliers, feeding info. etc.

The maps are all unclear on the as they don't show specific locations of towns and cities. Tucson seems to be on the border of Zone 8 and 9.|||I can't believe no one has bothered to answer your question as of yet. Oh well, here goes ...
I use the Zone Finder map and tools available on the "Jerry Baker - America's Master Gardener" website. You are right, the map alone is sometimes confusing, and it is sometimes hard to tell the actual zone you are in. This website uses your Zip Code to pinpoint your USDA hardiness zone. I don't live in Tucson, but I have visited several times over the years. I remember 22nd Street so I based my search on that street. I went to the USPS Zip Code lookup website and picked 85713. Plugging it into the Jerry Baker site indicates that it is in USDA hardiness zone 8A.
Your hardiness zone may be different, so you might want to plug in your own zip code. Here is a link to the Jerry Baker site:
http://www.jerrybaker.com/index.asp?Page鈥?/a>
If you want to check out neighboring Zip Codes to see how close you might be to another zone, here is a link to the USPS Zip Code lookup website:

Good luck with your gardening efforts this year.
