I respect the President for making the effort to attend the memorial in Tucson. But "memorial" is hardly what the event was. I felt embarrassed by the obvious partisan attendance and their proclivity to cheer Obama in the shadow of the carnage that brought them there. The behavior seemed inappropriate and exhibited a vile disrespect for the dead and wounded.|||I'm trying very hard to find the good in it. But when I see people cheering him for such obviously hypocritical admonitions (just a couple weeks ago he called Repub's hostage takers as just the latest hyper-partisan remark to come from this guy), it does not ring true.

Giving speeches and telling people to watch what you say and to act like adults, etc. is fine if you also walk the walk. Obama does not and that will always cause me to doubt his sincerity and to wish him gone - now.|||President Obama asked John Boehner to fly to Tucson for the service on Air Force One. Boehner declined. There were 14,000 people there. I doubt they had to show their voter registration cards at the door. As for the cheering, the news that Gabrielle Giffords had opened her eyes for the first time brought an emotional out burst in the form of cheers. I have seen people laugh during a eulogy when the speaker said something funny. There is no book on how to show human emotions at a memorial service.|||I agree the tone was inapprorpriate but even I, who am not an Obama supporter, don't blame him or his staff. The problem was that they gave hundreds of tickets to college students from the University. Those kids waited in line all day to get tickets because they wanted to see Obama, not because they cared about the event. They should have known that's how they would act and have had a smaller ceremony.|||What do you expect... It was held at an auditorium on a college campus.... Most of the students probably didnt give a shite that it was a memorial... they just wanted to see obama and say that they had been there... I thought they were ignorant and rude... Not sticking up for obama but he handled quite well...|||0-bozo was asked to attend and he did. I doubt that he had any control of any perceived "tone" at the event. I'm certainly not a supporter of his but you can't blame him for everything.|||it was not a funeral service

it was a gathering of people who were directly affected by the tragedy and the heroism

the heroism deserved applause, because it reminds us that one evil man was balanced out by a dozen heroic Americans|||Nothing wrong with any of it.

A memorial is not controlled by the President, that is, how people react.

The people of Tucson have had 5 days of grief, sadness and sorrow.|||How is it Obama's fault that people also celebrated the living instead of just crying over the dead? People like you are not helping our nation, you are making it worse.|||They gave out TSHIRTS for Christ sake, WTF was that. a Beer Summit. Obama needs to go back to Chicago and just enjoy his gay bathhouse membership for life.|||If the people of Tucson felt like cheering, who are any of us to judge. They seem to appreciate his visit.|||Some people morn the lost of life and some celebrate the lives that are lost. The memorial was a combination of both.|||man it made liberals look retarded
