We are driving to see family this holiday and we'll stop in Tucson for a day (and night), then drive to Lubbock, TX. Has anyone actually made that trip, and know which is the best way to go? Mapquest blithely suggests cutting across New Mexico and Texas on local roads, but I'm not sure that would really work. Flying would be too expensive.
Thanks!|||The route listed on Mapquest is the best route***********assuming the weather is good*********
if there is snow along the way, go south into el paso and east on I-10/20 to midland texas and go north to Lubbock. This route is about 100 miles further but all but the last 120 miles is interstate.|||We ended up going the way you suggested--East to El Paso, then the 20 to Midland. Something we didn't know thenm in Texas the speed limit is 80 mph--except at night it's 65mph! So do it in the day!
Thanks!
