Whats the weather like, the jobs. How expensive is it to live out there. What type of work is Arizona know for (ex. Michigan known for makin cars) What are the wages like? I am thinking about moving to the west coast from the midwest. Arizona seems close to all the good states. Also how expensive is college out there for out of state students. I want to use my GI BILL.|||Flagstaff is a small college city w/too many people, cool w/pine trees. It doesn't snow like it used to. Living conditions are great if you have the money. Very expensive tourist town. Lots of gas stations and motels. Phoenix is hot desert, can be affordable. AZ has mining, electronics, military. Wages are bad in Flagstaff, better in Phoenix. Most don't want to live in Phoenix, rather in Tempe, Mesa, surrounding areas. Lots of people moving to Tucson, smaller than Phoenix. College is expensive, I know of more people dropping out, transferring to schools like University of Phx. Link below has lots of data. Good luck..|||I've been out here for 5 years, so hopefully I can help. The winters have been getting really cold the last 2 years (30's-40's) during the day. Still not as bad as most places though. The summers average about 110 degrees. It's not too bad unless there's humidity which happens a lot due to the Monsoons (just regular thunderstorms, and dust storms). When it does rain we usually get no more than 2 inches, but it tends to flood areas due to the way the roads are built. You may have to take a day off of work because of flooding, but at the same time, you don't have snow to deal with (unless you decide to live in Flagstaff). Flagstaff is much colder the whole year. I'm talking about the areas near Phoenix.

Arizona is not known for having their own of anything. So when it comes to jobs one major employer out here would be Intel. Wages are ok, it took me a while to make what I was making in Chicago, but after 5 years, I'm finally making more. I guess it just depends on what field you get into or what company you work for.

Phoenix area, which is where I would suggest to live over Flagstaff and Tucson, is about 6 hours from everything good, so it's not bad. 6 hours to the California beaches, 6 hours to Vegas, 6 hours to El Paso. For a cool off in the summers, you can go to Flagstaff which is only 2 hrs away.

Housing is relatively inexpensive compared to other states. With the market so bad right now, you can buy a pretty big house for a relatively cheap price. If you want to live in the suburbs, there are new areas all over. Examples are Gilbert and Queen Creek. I live in QC, it's far from a lot of places, but you can get a whole lot of house for a little amount of money. Look into foreclosed houses because that happened a lot out here. Queen Creek is finally getting a ton of stores, so on weekends and stuff you don't have to drive that far for anything.

ASU is the big university in Phoenix area (Tempe). I know they're somewhat expensive, and I'm really not sure how out of state residency student tuition. If you live here for a certain amount of time, you can claim residency and will save you thousands of dollars. Good luck to you and your decision.

  • I have the limited version with a 2.7L V6. What are some ways to improve the horsepower besides a new airfilter?|||you could check out cardomain. thats where i got idead on how to upgrade my jaguar and volvo. otherwise, nothing can top research. but in the meantime, a supercharger would be great http://www.alpine-developments.us/id15.html AND, make sure you join a forum, www.hyundai-forums.com|||get out and push it to the junkyard|||nos|||Boy wacha yall doing driving them North Korean commi cars?|||Jack it up and drive a real American truck under it!! ;-}|||Trade it in for a Sante Fe with the 3.3L V6 or Veracruz with 3.8L V6. If you don't like those ideas, then go ahead and void your warranty while lowering the value of your Tucson by adding a full cat-back exhaust with headers, cold-air intake, performance spark plugs/wires, unorthodox underdrive pulley, NOS/Venom, Turbo-charger.
Like someone said if you want a sportscar SUV you'll have to buy an American brand or one of those really expensive European brands that start around $50K.|||You cant it a hyundai..|||Well....to give you a REAL answer.....

Try getting some sparkplugs which have more than a single electrode (the little arm that extends out over the post). Go to Auto Parts store to check them out.
They help to burn the gas more completely. I have used them in my 1991 beatup Geo Prizm, and they've made a BIG difference in performance, as much as can be done on a beatup Geo prizm!!

Changing air filter alone won't do anything, unless you're talking about changing the whole air flow system into something more high performance. But if you're merely talking lowest dollar and effort, changing to higher performance spark plug like I mentioned will help.

Changing to a fully synthetic oil also helps the car run easier. More expensive oil, but you might try it once to see how car runs.

Also, increase the air pressure in your tires. If you've got them at the average 32 ppi, then increase to 34-35. Adds just enough air--without any dangers--to help the vehicle roll a little bit easier.

One more thing......get a cheap bottle of STP gas treatment, go to Walmart or Kmart and get their house brand, usually a dollar or less. Do NOT add the whole bottle of 8 oz per gas tank. Just add few ounces, maybe up to 4 oz per tank. The idea isn't to really clean the engine. (It's kinda bit of trouble to just add few ounces, because you don't want to splash the stuff when you pull out the bottle from the gas pipe/cap opening. I find it's easier to stick a screwdriver to hold the little flap open, while I easily pour the few ounces down the pipe.)

The added gas treatment will help your engine run smoother because it burns the gas more effectively. I've noticed it many times on my bike and my older car, too. It's kinda like adding a squirt of lighter fluid on the charcoal to get it to flame up, but without the fireworks which the open flame shows. But main idea is the same. The charcoal will burn normally. But a quick splash of the lighter fluid helps it to burn better, admittedly not for long. But the few ounces in the gas tank DOES help the gas to burn better.

Remember, not the whole bottle. You should get at least 2 or 3 tankfuls of gas to a single 8 oz bottle. It's just to raise the burning coefficient of the gasoline a little bit higher so that it gives a better burn, thereby producing little bit more power. But it won't give you better gas mileage.

These are a few very simple items that might help your car run better. Good luck.

I was about to make a left hand turn from a busy street on to my neighborhood. I saw that a car stopped behind me. As I slowly drove up to speed up a little more and make my turn, the car behind me passed me and made the turn, completely making the turn. When I honked, all she did was give me the finger. I have a 4-year old, if something would have happened, I would of been enraged! This girl does not deserve to be on the streets. Where can I go to turn her in? I have her license plate number.|||Find Tucson police station. Visit in person. Make a statement to the police. If practical, include make model color license plate of other car, when and where this happened.

Ask police at time of statement for their guidance what you should do in future if when you witness reckless driver(s).|||You could contact the police. However, most offenses need to be witnessed by a police officer, so the most they'll do is maybe take your information and tell you to have a nice day.

They are asking 1700 for the convenience package and 2000 for the navi package. What percentage do I have to work with in negotiating this portion of my total price. I just don't know how much they actually paid and what they are asking. ONLY PEOPLE KNOWLEDGEABLE IN THIS AREA PLEASE ANSWER!!! I already know that they DO mark it up, I just need to know if anyone knows exactly how much. Thank you|||There is no "Convenience Package" for 2010 Tucson. Hyundai does offer a Popular Equipment Package Option Group 02/AB in addition to it's Navigation Package 03/AC. The invoice price for each of these items, in addition to the base vehicle and any additional factory or dealer options are widely available from any of the scores of free automotive web sites that specialize in providing such information. Hyundai dealers' standard gross margin for Option Group Packages is 9%.
